Mumbai, November 08, 2017: VA Tech WABAG Limited, a leading pure play water technology Indian multinational in water and waste water treatment achieved yet another accolade by winning the Dun & Bradstreet Infra Awards for the second time in a row. The award was presented to WABAG by Shri Nitin Gadkari, Honourable Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways and Water Resource, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India for the K&C Valley Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) located in Bengaluru.

The project is unique in being the first WWTP in Karnataka to produce power through bio-gas. The WWTP was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka on May 15, 2017 and has the capacity to treat 60,000 m3 of wastewater per day. Execution of the project is funded by JICA (Japanese International Cooperation Agency) and is a major bid to restore the city’s lakes by offering substantial relief in terms of reducing the volume of untreated sewage entering Bellandur and Varthur Lakes. The salient features of the plant are in line with latest Government notifications promoting resource recovery – reuse of treated water and production of green power/CNG fuel from sludge biogas. With much of the contaminants reduced by more than 95%, the Minor Irrigation Department has initiated process of utilizing treated wastewater in to fill the tanks in Kolar district.

We have always strived to live up to our brand tagline: Sustainable Solutions for a better life and believe in offering solutions which are sustainable and eco-friendly. As an industry leader, we believe in proposing a sustainable and comprehensive sewage treatment model. Our Pappankalan WWTP in New Delhi which is in advanced stage of execution is one such example with focus on resource recovery – treating wastewater to standards fit for reuse, production of green power from sludge biogas and use of digested sludge as manure to be sold to farmers. With recognitions like these, we do get motivated to go a step further in our quest for excellence.”
