In April, IFMA and RICS celebrated one year since launching a global collaboration, representing a significant evolution in the FM sector. The collaboration aims to provide an unprecedented level of industry support to meet the growing demands of the 25 million FM practitioners around the world.

“It’s been nearly a year since we got together and talked about many of the things that are happening in the FM world and how we might come together and collaborate to really help advance the industry, improve the profession, to raise its profile and heighten standards.”

Sean Tompkins, RICS Chief Executive

Key IFMA-RICS collaboration initiatives from the past year include:

-The launch of the Define.FMcampaign driving awareness for the FM sector and empowering practitioners to define the profession

– The creation of a new, one-stop-shop for FM training resources and credentials

– A series of World Workplace events that brings together FM professionals in locations around the globe

– The release of a joint research report, Raising the Bar: From Operational Excellence to Strategic Impact in FM

“What this collaboration has done is changed the conversation that we’re seeing in the FM industry, and that is a real important aspect to raising the bar. It’s exciting times for FM.”

Tony Keane, President and CEO of IFMA

Both leaders note the role the collaboration has had to help break down siloes between FM and the broader built environment industry. These efforts serve to raise the profile of FM, giving greater voice and increased status to the profession, ultimately driving all around better industry solutions and enabling business success.

To celebrate World FM Day and mark the collaboration milestone, Tony Keane, President and CEO of IFMA, and Sean Tompkins, Chief Executive, RICS, share a video message highlighting the significant strides the collaboration has made over the past year to support the global FM community and define the future of the profession.
