Speaking on the award, Ramkripa Ananthan, Chief Designer, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “This award gives us tremendous satisfaction as it validates our continued focus on building a Design Studio that communicates the language of our SUVs, one of tough, reliable and rugged. The Design Studio stands for brand Mahindra and its design thought process. Moreover, what makes this recognition even more special is the fact that all the competing projects are well known globally and noteworthy in their own right. At Mahindra, we have taken special care to respect our roots and preserve the natural form and textures of the raw materials used in building the Design Studio. This award is very inspiring for the entire team and we hope to live up to its legacy by continuing to set new benchmarks in design excellence.”

This year, the jury received a record number of projects for new buildings, landscape architecture and urban planning from prestigious global firms practicing. The jury selection took place in Milan during the 15th Venice Architecture Biennale and 130 projects from over 40 nations were selected by a distinguished group of Italian architects, journalists and educators. The Mahindra Design Studio, located within Mahindra’s manufacturing plant in Kandivali, Mumbai has a unique design that energizes and inspires thoughts and is true to its brand origins. The studio’s architects conceptualized a rugged, raw space that uses natural light, celebrates its industrial context and complements it with a deceptively light and nuanced design.
