ORIGINS, Chennai reiterates its commitment to sustainability as first industrial cluster in Tamil Nadu to receive IGBC Green Cities’ ‘Platinum’ rating

 Chennai, April 27, 2019: Mahindra Lifespace Developers Limited (‘MLDL’) today announced the inauguration of ORIGINS by Mahindra World City, Chennai located on the NH16 growth corridor near Ponneri.  ORIGINS, Chennai was inaugurated by H.E. Kenji HiramatsuAmbassador of Japan to India, in the presence of senior officials from the Tamil Nadu government, Mahindra Lifespaces and Sumitomo Corporation of Japan.  Padma Shri Ar. C N Raghavendra, Chairman, IGBC Chennai Chapter and Managing Director, C.R. Narayan Rao Consultants, presented the IGBC certificate to ORIGINS, Chennai at the inauguration ceremony held earlier today.

ORIGINS, Chennai has been developed in a 60:40 joint venture between Mahindra World City Developers Limited (‘MWCDL’), a subsidiary of Mahindra Lifespace Developers Limited, and Sumitomo Corporation.  Mahindra World City Developers Limited and Sumitomo Corporation have together committed to invest approximately Rs. 1000 Cr. in developing ORIGINS, Chennai, which is expected to create direct employment for about 7000 persons when fully operational.

 Phase 1 of ORIGINS, Chennai spans around 300 acres and is ready for business with all approvals in place.  ORIGINS, Chennai will enable faster go-to-market for businesses via world-class plug-and-play infrastructure, strategic location advantages and a range of value-added services.  The target customer base for ORIGINS, Chennai comprises companies in the engineering, food processing, automotive, logistics and aerospace sectors, among others.
