IIA National Awards for Excellence in Architecture 2015 will be held at Calicut along with crossroads 2016

Bengaluru, March 14, 2016: The prestigious IIA National Awards for Excellence in Architecture 2015 will be held in Calicut on the 7th, 8th and 9th of April 2016, along with CROSSROADS 2016, hosted by the IIA Calicut Centre, powered by Trojan Plywood. The three day event to be held at Kadavu Resort, Calicut will see the attendance of over 1,000 delegates comprising Architects & Urban Planners, from across the country.

The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) is the national body of architects, with over 17,000 active members.The Awards are constituted to encourage, acknowledge, appreciate and honour the creative contribution of the IIA members all over India in the field of architecture. This year the Institute will move a step further by creating an international platform for the architects to present their creations, which can lead to meaningful debates and dialogues aimed at defining a new direction for architectural practice in the country.

The awards will be adjudged in categories of Residential Projects (Individual Villas and Housing), Commercial Projects, Institutional Projects, Interior Architecture, Infrastructure & Industrial Projects, Urban design & Master planning, Conservation and adaptive re-use, Landscape Projects, Architecture Unbuilt and Research Studies.

CROSSROADS is an initiative by the architectural fraternity of Calicut to create a forum for deliberations, critical thinking and ideation in the field of architecture and urbanism. The conference addressed the dynamics of the urban realm and the relevance of craft traditions through its theme of `Public Architecture` and `Art in Architecture` in its previous editions.

CROSSROADS 2016, in its first National edition, will have over 60 live presentations shortlisted from over 500 entries, star-studded keynotes by iconic International architects, panel discussions, exhibitions, Awards Night with Gala Dinner and is all set to be the biggest ever Architecture event in India.
