PRANA by Nila Spaces awarded Precertified WELL Residence Designation

The milestone achievement recognizes Nila Spaces’ progress in creating healthier and more resilient homes under the WELL for residential framework

Ahmedabad, January 09, 2026: Nila Spaces announced today that its upcoming residential project PRANA has been awarded the Precertified WELL Residence designation by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), the global authority for driving market transformation through healthy buildings, organizations and communities.

This designation marks an important milestone in PRANA’s journey toward achieving WELL Residence certification, recognizing the project’s commitment to embedding health and well-being at the core of its design and planning philosophy.

The Precertified WELL Residence designation indicates that the project has successfully completed preliminary design review and made substantial progress on design documentation under IWBI’s WELL for residential program—an evidence-based, third-party verified framework developed to transform the way homes are designed, built and maintained to support resident health and well-being. Precertification is an optional but significant step that allows projects to formally demonstrate alignment with global healthy building standards early in the development process.

Achieving the final WELL Residence certification will confirm that Nila Spaces has successfully implemented health-focused design strategies for PRANA and fulfilled the requirements of IWBI’s leading global standard for healthier, more resilient homes.

“We are truly ecstatic to receive the Precertified WELL Residence designation for PRANA,” said Deep Vadodaria, Managing Director, Nila Spaces. “At a time when cities across India are grappling with deteriorating air quality and rising lifestyle-related health concerns, we believe real estate has a responsibility to be part of the solution—not the problem. Certifications like WELL push developers to think beyond aesthetics and amenities, and instead focus on promoting people’s health and well-being at home through strategies that factor in how they actually live, breathe and feel inside their homes. We hope more residential projects across the country begin adopting global health standards so that healthier living environments become the norm, not the exception.”

Nila Spaces joins a global community of forward-looking developers using the WELL for residential framework to create homes that can positively impact resident health. Notably, PRANA is one of only two residential projects in India to receive the Precertified WELL Residence designation, underscoring Nila Spaces’ leadership in health-centric residential development.

As part of this achievement, PRANA has earned points across all 10 core WELL concepts—Air, Water, Nourishment, Light, Movement, Thermal Comfort, Sound, Materials, Mind and Community—along with additional points under Innovation, reflecting a comprehensive and integrated approach to wellness-driven design.

“By achieving WELL Residence Precertification, Nila Spaces demonstrates a forward-thinking approach to residential development – one that recognises the powerful role homes play in supporting health and everyday well-being,” said Prateek Khanna, Chief Operating Officer at the International WELL Building Institute. “By engaging with the WELL for residential framework early in the design process, Nila Spaces is helping demonstrate how healthier, more resilient homes can be delivered at scale. This kind of market leadership is critical to advancing healthier living environments and expanding access to better homes for communities across India.”

Informed by the science-backed principles of the WELL Building Standard (WELL), the WELL for residential program comprises more than 100 health strategies designed to support resident health and well-being.

Leading organizations around the world are embracing the WELL for residential framework in their communities. Since the launch of the WELL for residential pilot in early 2024, organizations from a diverse range of countries—including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, China, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, the Netherlands and others—have enrolled projects to pursue certification.

The development of the WELL for residential program drew upon two years of industry input, market insight and expert recommendations from IWBI’s WELL for residential Advisory, a working group of more than 100 globally renowned subject-matter experts, including builders and developers, architects and engineers, public-health and building scientists, government officials, academics and real-estate professionals.

The WELL Residence designation is awarded to a project upon completion of third-party review and verification of selected strategies. Out of more than 200 points available, a project must verify at least 40 points to achieve the WELL Residence status.

Earning WELL Residence precertification communicates commitment to and progress in creating healthy homes. Highlights of Nila Spaces’ planned WELL strategies for PRANA include:

●      Enhanced indoor air-quality measures through advanced filtration and ventilation

●      Design strategies focused on natural light, thermal comfort and acoustics

●      Materials and finishes selected to reduce exposure to harmful pollutants

●      Planning that encourages movement, wellness and mental well-being within the residential environment

The WELL for residential program seeks to transform the global residential market and ensure that everyone, regardless of background, has access to a home that enhances health and enables healthier everyday choices.

WELL for residential is part of IWBI’s broader WELL ecosystem, which includes WELL Certification under the WELL Building Standard, the WELL Health-Safety Rating, WELL Performance Rating, WELL Equity Rating, WELL Coworking Rating and certification under the WELL Community Standard. Together, these programs provide organizations with a holistic, evidence-based roadmap to enhance human health and performance and advance social sustainability. Today, thousands of organizations—including nearly 30% of the Global and Fortune 500—have adopted WELL strategies across more than 130 countries, covering six billion square feet of space.
