CMC reintroduces the parchin-kari through its latest pietra dura collection under its kalingastone brand

Mumbai, September 24, 2020: Classic Marble Company (CMC) has introduced two new KalingaStone products – Manhattan and Droplet from its Pietra Dura collection. A most unique offering, the Pietra Dura is inspired from the ancient Parchin-kari artwork which uses the inlay technique for creating a fusion of two or more stones. Both, Manhattan and Droplet are created by embossing one engineered marble stone onto another which has been carved out to accommodate the former. In the case of Pietra Dura, the stone combinations have the Terrazzo marble inlayed in a marble slab with plain background.

CMC uses ‘Water Jet Technology’ – a high pressure water jet for carving the niche in marble.

The process uses CNC machine for carving grooves into marble slabs in predefined shapes with high pressure water jet. The final design is an assemblage of two or three different products fused together to display unique patterns. The final product undergoes filling and polishing making the surface seamless and glossy. Additionally, the products can be embellished with brass or stainless steel ornamentation as required. The product is available in 2 x 1.5 ft size and in thickness of 18 mm and allows customization in colour, size and thickness as required.

Although the art is inspired from the age-old Persian artwork, the new designs are introduced for modern living spaces. A blend of traditional and contemporary, the Manhattan and Droplet add a dash of liveliness in the installed area. The slabs while are remarkably beautiful, they are also extremely strong and durable. The products are recommended for flooring, wall panel, and counter top applications. The Pietra Dura Collection brings out the artistic brilliance of marble through the fusion of multiple designs into one, rendering an extravagant addition to any space or interiors.
