The Indian Institute Of Architects Calicut Announces Opening Of Its New Office, Dyuthi Gallery And Ekta Terrace

New Delhi, May 12, 2022: The Indian Institute of Architects Calicut Centre (IIA Calicut) has now come up with its new office at St. Vincent Colony, Kozhikode. ‘The Calicut’s Architects Collective’ as it is called is expected to be a centre of think tank discussions about the future of Calicut and the built environment as a whole. It will encompass meeting rooms, a library, and co-working spaces. The office space will also be accompanied by Dyuthi, a public gallery, which can host art exhibitions, debates & discussions, and Ekta, a terrace, which can host coffee meetings.

The Calicut’s Architects Collective was inaugurated on May 10th,2022 by Ar. CR Raju, National President, Indian Institute of Architects in the presence of Ar. L Gopakumar, Chairman, IIA Kerala Chapter, Ar. Lalichan Zacharias, Member, Council of Architecture, Ar. N M Salim, Ar. AK Prashant, Ar. Tony Joseph, Ar.Vinod Cyriac, Past Chairmen & Trustees, and Ar. Brijesh Shaijal, National Council member.

As we mark yet another milestone for IIA Calicut it is our endeavour to pioneer future development plans to make Calicut the most developed and livable city in India” says Vivek PP, Chairman, IIA Calicut Centre.

Calicut is one of the booming destinations in India for design & architecture. With over 500 architects & 120 practices, Calicut is catching up with the metros, in the quality of work, which is evident in the number of projects from Calicut getting applauded at the national & international levels. The centre has been recognized vividly for its support and contribution to Calicut & society in general. Bringing Calicut to the international design & architecture map is the foremost aim of these initiatives which will trigger a new phase of growth for the city & its people.

The Indian Institute of Architects, formulated as a collective body of Architects across India in 1917, has been bringing to the forefront the big questions facing the profession & our built environment since its inception. It has been at the forefront in addressing the quality of practice and service provided by architects as well as mediating in bringing a good, socially responsible, environmentally sensible, and the economically effective architectural built environment. IIA today has the fraternity fellowship of more than 25000 architects. The ‘Outreach’ programs pan India are conducted through IIA’s 23 Chapters, 54 Centers, and 18 Sub Centers.
