Rinkal Bagadia Revives Lippan Art for Contemporary Interiors with Prosperity’s Latest Collection

New Delhi, June 02, 2025: Rinkal Bagadia, an inspiring entrepreneur and cultural preservationist from Ahmedabad, continues to leave an indelible mark on the Indian handicraft landscape through her trailblazing platform, Prosperity. Known for its commitment to reviving heritage Indian crafts, Prosperity’s latest offering showcases the timeless charm of Lippan Art—a mural craft from Gujarat’s Kutch region—reimagined for contemporary interior spaces.

Founded in 2020, Prosperity began as a modest initiative during the pandemic with a handful of terracotta and blue pottery pieces. Today, under Rinkal’s visionary leadership, it boasts a curated collection of over 370 handcrafted items, many of which spotlight endangered crafts such as Pokhran Pottery, Sawai Madhopur’s Black Pottery, and the rare textile art of Mata ni Pachedi. Now, with the inclusion of Lippan Art, Prosperity takes another confident step toward merging heritage with innovation.

Known as Mud and Mirror Work, Lippan Art is a traditional craft that originates from the Kutch region of Gujarat, primarily practiced by the Rabari, Meghwal, and Mutva communities. This intricate art form involves creating raised patterns using a blend of clay and camel dung, which are then embellished with reflective mirror pieces. The designs often draw inspiration from nature, daily life, and folklore, showcasing the cultural richness of the region. Under Rinkal’s vision, this expressive craft has been reimagined in contemporary interior design, infusing modern spaces with both visual elegance and deep-rooted heritage.

What distinguishes Prosperity’s Lippan Art collection is its refined blend of tradition, sustainability, and bespoke craftsmanship. Each mirror is meticulously embedded into clay by skilled hands—a process that demands precision and patience—ensuring both durability and artisanal integrity. Rendered on waterproof plywood for longevity, the pieces are also available as site-specific installations, offering a seamless integration into curated interior spaces.

The earthy textures and shimmering mirrors of Lippan Art add warmth, depth, and a tactile richness to interiors. More than just ornamentation, the mirrors reflect light—playing with shadows and brightness—to make spaces feel open, inviting, and vibrant. It’s this ability to marry sustainability with style that makes Lippan Art an ideal choice for modern-day homes and commercial spaces.

Interior designers and architects alike are embracing its versatility—installing large murals in foyers, using intricate Lippan motifs on coffee tables and wardrobes, and even introducing laser-cut Lippan screens in open-plan layouts.

Beyond aesthetics, Rinkal Bagadia’s work through Prosperity supports local artisans who have long preserved and practiced this craft, providing them with a global platform to showcase their skills. By reimagining Lippan Art for contemporary spaces, she not only sustains livelihoods but also ensures that India’s cultural heritage remains relevant in today’s design narrative.
