Mumbai, October 12, 2013: To address the challenges as well as the opportunities in the Rs. 20,000 crore Bulk Material Handling industry, the fourth edition of Powder and Bulk Solids India organised by NuernbergMesse India, kicked off today. The three day event is being organised at the Bombay Convention and Exhibition Centre, Goregaon from 9th to 11th October.

The ground breaking Trade Show for the powder and bulk material handling and processing industry was inaugurated by Dr.Vijay K Agarwal, IIT-Delhi, Chairman, Conference Board, Powder and Bulk Solids India; Mr. Paresh Navani, Managing Director, Process India; Mr. Bernhard Steinrucke, Director General, Indo-German of Commerece; Mr. Marcel Drottboom, Vogel Business Media and Ms. Sonia Prashar, Managing Director, NuernbergMesse India with the traditional ‘lamp-lightning’ ceremony. The event, spiced by extensive conference programs, is a one-of-its-kind platform for exchange of knowledge and ideas in this niche sector.

In the course of development of the economy, powder and bulk handling and processing have become significant areas of concern. With the size of the bulk material handling industry being Rs. 20,000 Crores, the industry is growing at a rate of 17%. A growing number of competitors, increasing quality standards, as well as tightening legal constraints put a high pressure on all industry sectors including chemicals, plastics, pharmaceutical and food products besides all raw material handling industries, such as mining, coal-fired power generation and dry handling bulk ports.

In this difficult environment, staying on top of the technological development is a decisive factor, when it comes to being competitive and increase business success. Effective material management could save 15% of the cost of the manufacturing plant and increase the productivity by 10%, subsequently leading to a competitive edge.

At the inauguration of the event, Dr. Vijay Agarwal, IIT-Delhi, Chairman, Conference Board, Powder and Bulk Solids India said, “The development of the infrastructural sector has been and will continue to be a priority for the Indian Government. This, in turn, necessitates the attention on production, storage, and transport of powder and bulk materials. The exchange of knowledge and know-how is a fundamental prerequisite to be able to rise to these challenges – and with its combination of exhibition and conference, Powder & Bulk Solids India is the perfect platform for this exchange.”

The Powder & Bulk Solids India 2013 Conference and Exhibition is India’s meeting place for powder and bulk experts and companies from India and all over the world. It is the perfect venue to network and gather information on the latest development in powder & bulk handling and processing technologies.

This edition of the event witnessed an impressive line-up of the crème-de-la-creme from the booming Indian Powder & Bulk industry. Ms. Sonia Prashar, Managing Director, NuernbergMesse India said, “The event has successfully emerged as India’s only focused show for “Processing Technologies in Powder” and “Bulk and Heavy Bulk Material Handling,”. The event has consistently showcased top manufacturers and suppliers from not only one industry but a cluster of industries. This positive trend reflects on the unique cross-sectoral concept of the Powder & Bulk Solids India Exhibition & Conference holds a big potential in India.”
