GROHE at the 14th Venice Architecture Biennale

Sanitary manufacturer’s first showing in Venice as a partner and exhibitor

New Delhi, June 12, 2014 – “Fundamentals” is the title chosen for the 14th Venice Architecture Biennale taking place from June 7 to November 23, 2014. Curated by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, this high-profile event will once again make Venice the mecca of the international architectural community. GROHE, too, will attend the world’s largest and most important architecture exhibition. Apart from being a partner of the german contribution, the manufacturer will also contribute to the DeutscherWerkbund exhibition staged at the Palazzo Ca‘Tron.

GROHE supports the german contribution BUNGALOW GERMANIA located at the “Giardini” venue. Two Zurich-based German architects, Prof. Alex Lehnerer and SavvasCiriacidis, have been appointed General Commissioners of the German Pavilion 2014 by the country’s Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety. For their design of the “Bungalow Germania”, they chose GROHE faucets and specifically Zedra, the designer kitchen faucet.

Opening June 7 to August 1, 2014 in the Palazzo Ca’Tron facing the Canale Grande, the DeutscherWerkbund exhibition will present the results of a competition among Germany’s 22 most influential architects under the motto “Baufällig in Gedanken” (“Condemned in Thoughts”). The competition invited the participants to imagine that the german pavilion had been condemned and could make way for a new structure reflecting their current understanding of architecture. Participants were asked to submit their models or plans for this fictitious construction project. This exhibition promises to show some highly exceptional designs, given that submissions have been received from such renowned practices as Ingenhoven, Behnisch, Lederer+Ragnarsdóttir+Oei, Jürgen Mayer H., RKW Rhode KellermannWawrowsky and Hans Kollhoff. Within this framework, GROHE will be showcasing the process of creating a faucet and illustrating the versatility of its products. With its long track record of innovation, the manufacturer has played a key role in the development of the bathroom.

A total of 66 nations will be represented at the 14th International Architecture Biennale. 

The national pavilions will be spread over the “Giardini” and “Arsenale” venues and a number of other locations throughout Venice. More than 300,000 visitors from all over the world are expected to attend. CCI Newswire
