Emergence of 850-plus new tall buildings positions Hyderabad as the Tall Building Capital of India; Suraksha Index certification by FSAI becomes paramount for safety, says Srinivas Valluri, National President, FSAI

Hyderabad, December 12, 2025: The Fire & Security Association of India (FSAI), Hyderabad Chapter, hosted the National Seminar – FESA 2025 (Fire, Electrical, Security & Automation for Tall Buildings), bringing together senior government officials, developers, MEP consultants, fire experts, architects, OEMs and other key stakeholders to discuss building safety, best practices and emerging technologies for India’s rapidly expanding high-rise ecosystem.

With Hyderabad witnessing rapid vertical growth and over 872 tall building projects in the pipeline, the city further strengthened its position as a major global high-rise destination through the deliberations at FESA 2025. The seminar underscored the critical importance of ensuring safety, resilience and future-ready infrastructure in high-rise development, with discussions spanning fire protection, electrical safety, security systems, automation and integrated building management. As part of this focus, Suraksha Index certification by FSAI was highlighted as a pivotal benchmark for enhancing safety and performance across upcoming tall buildings.

Speaking at the inaugural session, Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker Shri Vikram Singh Mann, IPSDirector General, Telangana Fire, Disaster Response, Emergency and Civil Defence, said, “Hyderabad’s fast-changing skyline demands uncompromising compliance with fire and life-safety norms at every stage from design to operations. Platforms like FESA 2025 enable regulators, developers and experts to share learnings, strengthen preparedness and ensure that high-rise growth is matched with robust emergency response capabilities.” 

Manoj WahiPresident, FSAI Hyderabad Chapter, said, “FESA 2025 reflects FSAI’s mission to promote a safe and secure built environment through deeper collaboration between government bodies, developers, consultants and technology providers. The seminar showcased practical solutions and best practices applicable to both new and existing high-rise projects across Hyderabad and other fast-growing cities.” 

V Srinivas, National President of FSAI, highlighted the organisation’s ongoing efforts to work with central and state authorities to strengthen life-safety codes and drive effective implementation. He said FESA 2025 further advanced this agenda by aligning industry stakeholders on standards, competency building and technology adoption for tall buildings nationwide.

The first day of the seminar featured technical sessions and panel discussions on Fire Fighting & Life Safety Design, led by C. Lakshmi Prasad, former Director of the Telangana State Fire Service and Civil Defense Training Institute; Electrical Safety & Resilience in High-Rise Buildings, presented by N. V. Subba Rao, Senior Advisor, Cholamandalam MS Risk Services; and Safety in Plumbing Systems, delivered by Dipen Mehta, Managing Director, Acqua Utility Designs & Management. Additional discussions covered topics such as “Building Tall – Challenges in Construction and Maintenance” and “Life Safety and Fire Safety in Architectural and Structural Design.” Day 2 would focus on advanced fire protection strategies, security, building automation and emerging technologies for tall-building safety.

The seminar was supported by leading industry associations including ISHRAE Deccan Chapter, Indian Plumbing Association Hyderabad Chapter, Institute of Indian Interior Designers – Hyderabad Regional Chapter, Indian Green Building Council, International Copper Association India, ASHRAE Deccan Chapter and CREDAI Hyderabad, underscoring the sector-wide commitment to safer, smarter tall buildings.

FESA 2025 was convened by Praveen Upadhyay, under the leadership of the FSAI Hyderabad Chapter team led by President Manoj Wahi and Secretary Huzefa Hussain, with support from CREDAI Hyderabad President and Guest of Honour Jaideep Reddy and other senior members. Office-bearers and chapter leaders from across India participated, reaffirming FSAI’s commitment to enhancing life safety and security in the country’s high-rise sector.

The seminar also saw active participation from leading companies, including Engineering Supply Agencies (dealer for Honeywell) and Arial Engineering HVAC (India) Pvt. Ltd.
