Ahmedabad, April 23, 2026 : Bigbloc Construction Limited, one of the largest manufacturers of Aerated Autoclaved Concrete blocks (AAC), bricks and ALC panels in India, has announced the commencement of trial production at its construction chemicals plant at Umargaon through its wholly owned subsidiary, Bigbloc Building Elements Private Limited. This marks the company’s entry into a new segment within the building materials space.
As part of its expansion strategy, the company has diversified into the construction chemicals segment. The Umargaon facility will manufacture a range of products including tile adhesives, wall putty, ready mix plaster, block joining mortar and waterproofing products. The plant has been designed to cater to growing regional demand. Bigbloc Construction Limited is one of the largest and among the only listed companies in the AAC block space, with an installed capacity of 1.3 million cubic meters per annum across its plants in Gujarat and Maharashtra. This move allows the company to enter a high growth segment within the building materials industry and further strengthen its product portfolio.
Commenting on the development, Mr. Narayan Saboo, Chairman, Bigbloc Construction Limited, said, “BigBloc’s foray into construction chemicals marks a significant milestone in our journey towards becoming a comprehensive building materials solutions provider. This initiative is aligned with our long-term vision of delivering high-quality, sustainable, and innovative products to the construction industry. With the successful commencement of trial runs, we are confident that this facility will enhance our product portfolio and create strong synergies with our existing AAC business. We remain committed to driving growth through innovation, operational excellence, and customer-centric solutions, while strengthening our position in the rapidly evolving construction ecosystem.”
The company has also recently acquired around 57,500 square meters of land at Khasra to set up one of India’s largest greenfield facilities for AAC blocks in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Bigbloc Construction Limited is among the few companies in the AAC industry to generate carbon credits, reflecting its continued focus on sustainable and efficient manufacturing practices.
Building on these developments, Bigbloc Construction Limited continues to focus on expanding its manufacturing capabilities and strengthening its presence across key markets. The commencement of trial production at the Umargaon facility marks another step in this direction, as the company aims to enhance its product offerings and support the growing demand in the building materials sector.
