Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh Lays Foundation Stone for the Construction of Infosys Red Cross Sarai At PGIMER

New Delhi, September 10, 2016: Sh. Rajnath Singh, Union Minister for Home Affairs, Govt. of India laid The Foundation Stone for construction of Infosys – Red Cross Sarai today at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, U.T. Chandigarh, The Chief Guest, was welcomed by the officers of Chandigarh Administration, and representatives of PGI Administration and Infosys Limited. Shri Rajnath Singh also distributed Wheel Chairs and Tricycles to the physically impaired persons. The Chief Guest appreciated the initiative taken for this noble cause by the Chandigarh Administration, PGI authorities and Infosys Limited.

Indian Red Cross Society, U.T. Branch, Chandigarh has come forward with a very noble cause of constructing a Sarai Building in the PGI Campus. The land for the Sarai has been provided by the PGI to IRCS, Chandigarh and the construction will be done by Infosys Limited. The IRCS, Chandigarh will run the Sarai which will be constructed in 18 months at an approximate cost of Rs.12 Crore to be donated by the Infosys Limited.

The total area of the site earmarked for the construction of Sarai Building is 40000 square feet. The 316 bedded building has been designed to cater to the needs of the patients and the attendants visiting PGIMER, Chandigarh. The Red Cross Sarai will go a long way in solving the demands of patients and attendants. The building will be consisting of waiting lounge, cloak room, kitchen, dining, pharmacy, lifts etc. the building will be fully equipped with ultra modern facilities like hvac, electrical and backup generators. A parking capacity of 40 four wheeler is provided in the basement with separate entry and exit ramps with additional four wheeler and two wheeler parking at surface level.

The event was presided over by Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, H.E. Governor of Punjab & Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh in the august presence of Smt. Kirron Kher, Hon’ble M P, Chandigarh, Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator and Sh. Avinash Rai Khanna, Vice Chairman, IRCS, National Headquarters, New Delhi and other senior officers of Chandigarh Administration.
